Heard good things about this place and finally made it along to try it out. It’s a small venue, a takeaway with a some seats and the specialty is burgers. They get it and they are special! What started as a pop-up has now grown into a restaurant as Glasgow's 'best burger' joint sets up shop in Finnieston El Perro Negro ltd is the brainchild of Nick Watkins, who created and shared pictures of his burgers to the James vs Burger community back in 2014. El Perro Negro was orginally a pop up venutre that sold out kitchens across Glasgow now it has a permanent home.
What's It like Inside?
Inside, it’s a no frills affair - the burgers take centre stage here, and the menu is simple, pared down and to the point, separated into beef burgers, chicken and sides.
The Food:
I had the classic burger with bacon and cheese - it was cooked to perfection and the quality of beef in the burger was evident: it's clear a lot of care goes into selecting high quality, properly aged beef.
I also ordered the gojuchang (Korean chilli) confit chicken wings. These were alao perfect - the right balance of spice, sweet and sour in the glaze and the chicken itself came right off the bone.
In summary, El Perro Negro served the best burger and chicken wings I've ever had and does well to find itself head and shoulders above the many trendy, yet mediocre, burger places in Glasgow.

The Verdict:
There are plenty of brilliant burgers in Glasgow, so El Perro Negro isn’t exactly alone on the meat-between-bread front - but the flavour combinations here beat the usual stack-em-high approach. It may be the food of childhood parties, but these burgers have grown up - and they just might get my vote for best burger in Glasgow.
